A green wall, which is also known as a vertical garden or living wall, is a self-sufficient garden attached to the exterior or interior walls of a building. In green walls, various types of modular panels can be used along with growing media, irrigation systems, and plants. Along with other forms of urban greening such as planting trees and constructing green roofs, green walls/living walls provide a host of benefits to the environment, people living and working in the area, and to the buildings themselves.
Here are some of the benefits of living walls:
- Green walls have been shown to increase biodiversity even in city environments. By using a broad range of plants, a green wall can considerably increase the number and variety of insects and birds in a given area, helping to return a more sustainable ecosystem in urban environments.
- Vegetated surfaces can provide a visual impact and focus or be used to obscure unsightly structures and spaces. As well as introducing greenery into cities where green space is now so sparse, these living walls can disguise eyesores, while enhancing and adding stunning visual impact to any public space, whether indoors or out.
- Plants and greenery have been proven to provide uplifting and calming effects on people whilst having a positive impact on stress-related illnesses. Studies have shown that simply having a view of greenery increases workplace productivity and patient recovery rates in hospitals.
- Large areas of greenery help to suppress dust particles, improving air quality around construction sites and busy highways. This can lead to a reduction in respiratory illness. During the day, plants extract carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and many other toxins from the air during photosynthesis, resulting in significant reductions in CO2 levels in well-vegetated urban areas.

The coverage of vegetation over a building can dramatically reduce the need for additional cooling in summer, and it works as a blanket to reduce heat loss from a building in winter. Green walls can also protect a building from wind, weather, and temperature fluctuations, prolonging the life of the structure.

Price includes installation and a selection of house plants. The PlantBox includes an indicator so you know when to water or we can install a simple irrigation system.
